About the trip

This trekking trip will be started in Chiang Mai to take an impressive boat trip on the Mae Kok River to Chiang Rai province with trekking, elephant riding and overnight stay at Karen and Akha hill tribe villages .

We will have time to visit the ancient capital of Lanna Kingdom at C hiang Saen, the Golden Triangle on the bank o f Mekong River, and Mae S ai the border town to Myanmar before returning to Chiang Mai.

DAY 1: CHIANGMAI – THATON – BOAT – KAREN HILLTIRBE VILLAGE – ELEPHANT RIDE – LAHU HILLTRIBE VILLAGE (-/L/D)

08h00 Depart by a local truck to the northern part of Chiang Mai heading to Thaton.

11h00 On route, break at Fang district probably at the Orange orchard to take some pictures and taste some fresh oranges.

12h00 Reach Thaton and stop for lunch at the local restaurant on the river bank of Mae Kok.

13h00 Enjoy a trip on a motor long-tailed boat down the Mae Kok river for 2 ½ hours to Baan Ruammit, Karen hill tribe village.

16h00 Experience an Elephant ride through the jungle about 1 hours to Lahu Hill tribe village, Baan Yafoo.

18h00 Arrive. Dinner and overnight at Lahu village.

DAY 2: LAHU HILLTIRBE VILLAGE – WATERFALL– AKHA HILLTRIBE VILLAGE (B/L/D)

08h00 Breakfast at the village.

09h00 Trek about 1½ - 2 hours to Huay Mae Xai Waterfall where lunch is normally provided by the guide. Relax by the natural fall for awhile after lunch.

12h30 Walk amidst beautiful scenery about 30 minutes to another Lahu hill tribe village.

13h00 Visit the village chitchatting with local people before continuing to trek another 2 hours through vast paddy fields to Akha hill tribe village at Baan Ar - Pa.

15h00 Arrive and spend time to participate local activities and get in touch with people.

18h30 Dinner and overnight at the village.

DAY 3: AKHA HILLTRIBE VILLAGE – GOLDEN TRIANGLE – MAE SAI – CHIANG MAI (B/L/-)

09h00 After breakfast, transfer by a pick – up to Mae Sai, the border of Thai – Myanmar.

10h00 Enjoy shopping around the market of jade & jewelry as well as the Chinese goods.

12h00 Continue the trip to have lunch at the restaurant around the Golden Triangle area.

13h15 Enjoy beautiful scenery over the Mekong River at the view point from Wat Phrathat Pu Kao.

14h00 Proceed to visit Wat Chedi Luang, a ruin temple in Chiang Saen ancient city.

15h00 Head back to Chiangmai.

19h00 Arrive and transfer to the hotel on reservation.
